Matheran
 
Stunning   views   from   steep  cliffs   &  echoing  valleys are what the journey to
Matheran hill station has  in  store  for you.    Situated   at   an   altitude  of   800
mts,  on  a   narrow  north-south  ridge,   Matheran   consists   of    various   view 
points with  names such  as  Porcupine,  Monkey, Panorama,  Echo,  Sunset  &
the Hart point, most popular  of them all.

Getting There :  Mumbai, 100 kms.  away,  is  the  nearest airport, Badlapur 30 
km. away, Neral  21 Km. away  from where  you can  travel  by  the mini  train. It 
has plenty of hotels which are  close to the railway stations. 


Shiv Temple

Famous   for  Ambreshwar  Shiva  temple, Industrial  Units  &  Ordnance Factory.  
Ambreshwar  temple  is 6 kms.  away from Ambernath railway station.  It is  said
that  Shilahara  King  Chittaraja  constructed  it, his  son Mummuni rebuilt it. The
temple is  on the  banks  of    Vadvan (Waldhuni) river,   which is  of hemadpanthi
styled  beautifully  carved on  stones. Another  Shilahara  King  Aparaditya   built
the Rameshwar   temple,    which    is     situated    near    Lonad.  Ambernath is 
located 6  kms   from  Badlapur  and 40 kms from Thane.


Titwala ( Mahaganpati ) 

It  is equivalent  to   "ASHTAVINAYAKA" & one of  the Mahaganpati. Heavy rush
of devotees is there on Chaturthi, Sankasthi & Angarika. In olden time ashram of
sage  Kanva   was located here. When  King   Dushyanta abandoned his fiancee
Shakuntala, she came here &   tayed in the ashram.   She  was advised by sage
Durvasa  and  Kanva to  establish  shrine of   Siddhivinayak,  which was  done by
her. After worshipping Siddhivinayak she & Dushyanta got united. Shahad is near
to  Titwala  and  the Birla group of company constructed a beautiful Vithal temple
in  Shahad.   Thousands   of    devotees    visit    daily    to  these temples in the
naturally green places. It is 25 km far from Titwala.


Malshej Ghat

Natural  scenes,  Waterfalls  give  a  look  that  it  is  heaven on the  earth. It has 
recently become famous for  one  day  monsoon trip. There is a 12 kms ghat and
tourists visit to see the Flammingo bird.




Hajimalang  

It is 16 kms from Kalyan  &  also  known  as Malang Gadh. It is   located  on foot
hills. Devotees visit the dargah for  "Mannat".  Fair is held during   Magh Purnima.
It is also famous for Navnath temple.



Kondeshwar 

It  is  20  kms  from Badlapur. It  is  a  4 00 year old  Temple of  Lord Shiva called
Kondeshwar, a place where many people visit.




Barvi Dam

It is 18 kms from Badlapur.
